Comments on the workshop

Dear all,

It was really nice meeting you in NY, although the time we had together as a group was not long.

I have to comments on the organization of the workshop, Linda and Rihannon:
1) We where told to send in 3 questions in advance to be discussed in the group. However, that did not take place and therefore I do not feel that I received any help with the major problems I face at the current stage. I find it a bit strange that those questions where not even touched since I expect both students and professors to have read and prepared for both those and the paper itself.
2) The grouping of the papers could have been done more thematically. Then the feedback given to the others in the group could have relevance for me as well. Despite Japan being a very interesting country (3 out of 6 presentations in my group), it does not have much relevance to the work I'm doing.

Multilingualism and Education for Democracy

I have an article out in International Review of Education, currently published in Online First (Springer), DOI: 10.1007/s11159-007-9079-3. Title: Multilingualism and Education for Democracy. This will be published in the hard copy of the journal in 2009. Link: http://www.springerlink.com/content/52757k3x692x2686/

Readings for the workshop

Hi,
Just a quick question: Are we supposed to read the papers posted in the group we belong to only - or all the papers?

See http://www.tc.edu/academic/ITS/CIES/

Looks like that many of us have general presentations in addition to the workshop, hope I can make to as many of yours as possible:)

Welcome!

This is a closed forum for participants at the CIES New Scholars Workshop 2008. I hope we can introduce ourselves to each other and have other interesting academic discussions on this blog.
